PinForm Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
PinForm ("the app") is a bowling form analysis app for bowlers and coaches. It is published by MunkinFactory as part of the BowlBrain suite ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information about you and the people you film.
The short version
- Your videos stay on your phone. Every throw is analyzed on the phone itself.
- There are no accounts. We do not know who you are.
- If the app crashes, a crash report goes to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix it.
- Unless you turn it off, the app sends a few anonymous usage counts, at most once a day each.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or use advertising IDs.
Videos, poses and scores
PinForm records or imports videos of a bowler and analyzes them on the device: body pose, step timing, release measurements, scores and coaching tips are all computed on the phone.
- Videos you record are stored in the app's private storage on the phone. Videos you import stay where they are in your gallery; the app keeps a reference to them (or a private copy if the original cannot be found again).
- Analysis results (poses, measurements, scores, notes, tags, equipment you enter) are stored in the app's private storage on the phone.
- None of this is uploaded to us or to anyone else by the app.
You can share a throw yourself (for example a share card or a text summary) through your phone's share sheet. What you share, and with whom, is your choice; the app only hands the content to the app you pick.
Permissions
- Camera: to record throws. The app records video without sound.
- Photos and videos (media library): only when you choose to analyze a saved video, and to find an imported video again after the phone clears its cache.
- Notifications (optional): practice reminders, and a progress notification while the app re-analyzes your saved throws in the background. The app asks once, after your first analyzed throw. You can turn reminders off in Settings at any time.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
When the app crashes or the on-device analysis fails, a crash report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics, a service of Google. A report contains technical information: the device model, operating system and version, app version, the time, the stack trace (where in the code the crash happened) and short technical notes about which analysis step failed (for example the frame size or decoder used). It does not contain your videos, poses, scores or anything you typed. Crashlytics assigns a random installation identifier so crashes from the same installation can be grouped; it is not linked to your name or any account. Google processes this data under its own terms: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which parts of PinForm are used, the app sends a few anonymous counts to BowlBrain's own analytics service (bowlbrain-analytics.vercel.app, operated by us). No third-party analytics company is involved. At most once per day each, it sends:
- that the app was opened, and the platform (Android or iOS) and app version;
- how long ago the app was installed, in broad ranges (for example "7 to 13 days");
- which main screens and which features were used that day (names only, such as "review" or "trim video");
- roughly how many throws were analyzed the previous day, as a range (for example "10 to 29").
Each count contains no name, no account, no advertising ID, no stored device identifier, and nothing you recorded or typed. As with any internet request, the server receives the phone's IP address to answer it. The service uses it only to count daily unique opens, through a one-way hash of the address, the app and the date that cannot be turned back into the address, and to note the country. The IP address itself is not stored.
You can switch this off in Settings > Privacy > Share anonymous usage stats. When it is off, nothing is sent.
No accounts
PinForm has no sign-in and no user accounts. We cannot see, recover or delete data on your phone for you, because we never receive it.
Backups
On Android, the operating system may include the app's saved data (your throws' analysis and settings, and possibly the app's private video copies) in your own Google device backup, under your Google account, if backup is turned on for your phone. That backup is controlled by you and by Google's backup settings, not by us. On iOS, the same applies to iCloud backups.
Children and filming minors
PinForm is intended for bowlers and coaches aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Coaches and parents often film young bowlers. Whoever films a minor is responsible for having the consent of the bowler and of their parent or guardian, and for following the rules of the bowling center, league or club. The videos stay on the phone of the person who filmed them.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you delete it:
- delete a single throw from its review;
- delete everything from Settings > Data > Clear All Data;
- uninstalling the app removes its private storage from the phone (videos you imported into your gallery stay in your gallery).
Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days. Usage counts are kept as aggregate totals.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK GDPR or California's CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Because the app keeps your data on your phone and sends us no personal data, you can exercise these directly in the app as described above. For anything else, contact us.
Changes
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date, and describe material changes in the app's release notes.
